AI glossary

What is AI agent?

An AI agent is a system that uses a language model to take actions toward a goal, not just answer a question. It can plan steps, call tools or APIs, read the results, and decide what to do next, looping until the task is done, for example researching, booking, or updating records with limited human input.

The difference from a normal chat is autonomy: an agent does not just reply, it does. Agents are powerful, but because they act on your behalf they need clear guardrails and review.

Put the theory to work.

Kognitaa teaches these ideas by doing, on real tasks in Claude. The free Foundations level costs nothing.
